Lepidozamia Remote Bush Camp

D'Aguilar National Park

A pleasant 2.5km walk along a well maintained access track through rainforest and wet eucalypt forest leading to a spacious, well equipped remote campsite. The campsite offers a hut with benches and a picnic table, two large water tanks, and seating around a fire pit. There are sunset views over the range when looking to the west and, to the east, you can enjoy views of the sunrise, Moreton Bay, and Brisbane lights at night. If you’re lucky you will also see the fireflies flitting around the camp.

Maps

Mount D'Aguilar (9443-244) grid reference 762 828.

Route/Trail notes

A well-maintained fire access track along undulating land. Not too strenuous for the unfit and school-aged children; however, it may be too challenging for very young children - particularly on a hot day. As usual, be aware of snakes along the trail and the jumper ants.

Permits/Costs

Camp fees apply and there is a maximum occupancy of 9 people. See the link in Other References for current pricing.

Comments

Solo female 31.
Left at 4.15pm as I was faffing around.
It was foggy rainy and damp so very moody and spooky through beautiful wet rainforest filled with palm trees and then into large eucalyptus stands.
The fire trail itself is a bit boring but easy. Clay soil means its a bit slippy and sticky during rain it may warrant a stick/walking poles if you have a heavy pack.
Campsite was gorgeous. Only another couple camping. Water tanks very full.

This is a great little walk (only about an hour if you don’t dawdle) and the campsite is beautiful. You wake early to a symphony of bird calls. Heavenly!
