Quite steep but concrete all the way. Amazing 360° views of the Glass House Mountains to the west and Bribie Island and the coastal strip to the east. Lots of information on what you are looking at and a great place for a picnic.

Getting there:

A distinctive landmark (fire watch tower) on the eastern side of the Bruce Highway. From the south, take the exit next to the Service Station and turn right to cross over the Bruce Highway before turning right again and following the sign to the car park.

Well signposted from the north.

Wild Horse Mountain

Route/Trail notes:

700mt and quite steep. The quickest we have done this is in 7mins 56sec up and 4mins 23sec down. Concrete the whole way. If you are looking for something else, from the bottom of the car park, turn right and head along the forest trail for a couple of minutes and you can follow a bush track up the side of the mountain. This track only takes you halfway up though.

Straight uphill on a bitumen road. Plenty of parking. Pretty good view. Worth the detour.

Short and sweet with a great view at the top at sunset

Yes, it's that lookout near the Shell servo that every time you head up to the Sunshine Coast you think "I must stop there some day". Pretty short walk with some steepness (it's no Beerburrum), but great views west into the rest of the Glasshouse complex and up and down the coast, plus the highway. Worth the stop.

Awesome views of the GHMs. Might take 50 minutes if you do it three times. Great place to take interstate visitors.

This was our third mountain of the day and it was so easy we ran up and down it! Great view of the glasshouse mountains though :-)

As everybody says - great views but steep climb. Luckily it's short so not so bad.

Richard Mason on 30 Aug, 2015

Great views.. A little bit of an incline to the top but overall easy :) Think just about any one could do this one. The path is also paved so any kind of footwear should be fine!

Short steep walk along a bitumen track to the summit. Fantastic 360 views from the lookout and welcome breezes to cool down. Excellent photo opportunity of the Glass House Mountains, will have to come back on sunset.

1st mountain of the day. Good warmup for what was to come!

I chose this as the last destination on my 7 summits in one day challenge.
After completing (in order): Miketeebumulgrai, Elimbah, Beerburrum, Tibrogargan, Tibberoowuccum and Ngungun I was out on my feet when I got here. My quads and hamstrings were cramping up all the time. I was exhausted, hungry and desperate to finish. Never has the easy climb up this hill been so hard!!

Good hill practice. Quite steep near the top. Awesome views of Glasshouse. Can see all the way to sunshine coast and over to Bribie

Perfect for a quick walk. Look out for snakes; had a lovely visit from a red belly black! Great for a picnic at the top and perfect if you have a pram. Takes 15min to the top and view of the Glasshouse Mountains is amazing!!!
