Mount Coolum

Sunshine Coast

Enjoy a steep trek to the summit of one of the Sunshine Coast’s ancient volcanic domes. Created about 26 million years ago, Mount Coolum is a laccolith, formed when a dome-shaped bulge of magma cooled below the Earth’s surface.
Spectacular coastal views, rare and threatened plants, wildflowers, bird life and geology feature here.

Easy walk with fantastic views at the top of the ocean on one side and mountains on the other. Highly recommended.

A great quick walk to get the blood pumping... spectacular view even if it highlights the gradual infection of development over the coast...

An excellent afternoon walk, bit wet and slippery. Great Sunset when the clouds parted.

Short but reasonably tough walk. Hot on the day I did it and fairly exposed, not much shade. Excellent views from the top.

Great once you are at the summit - took small children with us.

A great out to sea but also a view out to the west with some more mountains to conquer. I believe some of the mountains that can be seen out to the west are Cooroy, Cooroora, Ninderry and Tinbeerwah. Of course, this mountain is teaming with people so don't expect a pleasant wander on your own.

Popular track with lovely views

Very short but enjoyable climb could easily be done in under 30 minutes.

Great walk up with amazing views at the top. Theres a tiny rock scramble towards the top but is easy. Take plenty of water, a hat and mosquito repellant.
