Coalstoun Lakes

Getting there

Turn off the Isis Highway 20km south of Biggenden or 4km north of the township of Coalstoun Lakes into Crater Lakes Road. Follow the dirt vehicle track, approximately 1km, through a grassy paddock to the beginning of the walk up the northern crater. A carpark is provided at the end of the road.

Coalstoun Lakes National Park -
Volcanic rock climb with spectacular scenic views of the hills and valleys. Very overgrown & lost the track not even half way so had to turn back😞. Thank goodness for my waterproof hikers and hiking poles to clear the grass ahead of me. Loads of bird life singing in the early morning, but couldn’t get much of a look at them as top canopy too thick. Can’t wait to go back when the track is cleared.

Couldn't find second portion of track up into second crater. Lots of golden orb spiders, beauitful spot down in first crater.

Only a short walk but the last 50% of the climb is very steep. A reasonable level of fitness is required. Great little walk if your in the area doing the Mt Walsh or Utopia Pools walks.
