From Old Gympie Rd, follow the track for a few kilometres. This tracks winds around and sometimes heads away from the mountains. Eventually it arrives in the saddle between the two mountains. There is a clear track heading to the left up the mountain. The track thins out and reaches the rock face. I headed left along the bottom of the rockface until I found a way up, which was still steep and loose, but not dangerous.

From Old Gympie Rd, follow the track which winds along for a few kilometres. Before the saddle there is a piece of fencing on the right. I followed this for a while and eventually the track dissapeared. It's a pretty touch climb through grass and rocks. This time I only made it as far as a rock face, probably about half way up, as I had already done the Western hill and was running out of time.

What a great walk. Ran from Jupiters and then walked up the stairs to the top. The last 100 or so stairs are a killer on the legs. Came down via the goat track. Looks like there are a few tracks around the mountain.

Climbed the easier Western Peak with my 12yo daughter. An easy climb, but hard enough for her to complain. Good fun.

Good fun walk with my 12 year old daughter. The majority of the walk is a walk/climb up a quite steep incline. Took us about 1 hour return which included about 10 minutes on the summit. |

Could not find any tracks so made my own way up. Quite steep and rocky with plenty of growth in places. Worth the effort. |

The Northern track has now been marked by a pile of rocks. So from the car park, head back out to Barrs rd., take a left and walk one hundred metres until you find the fire trail. Follow the firetrail for 500 or so metres and keep an eye out for a pile of rocks on the left hand bank. |

Did the walk twice in a couple of weeks, first time with about 20 children on our school camp aged between 10 and 13. Quite a hot day, so some of the children struggled with the climb and most drank all their water by half way up. Second time was with my 11 year old daughter and 2 of her friends. Cooler day and found it much easier going. Worthwhile having a swim in the waterhole afterwards. |
