Coominya to Esk - Part of BVRT (Brisbane Valley Rail Trail) |
13 Sep, 2015 |
Medium |
24.5km one-way 6 hrs |
|
A good long walk but should be done before the day gets too hot. A lot of bike riders for company. Mainly easy walking but sections around the rail bridges need extra care, there are several impressive bridges. Beware of the magpie season as they are nesting along the track
Lowood to Coominya Rail Trail (South East Queensland) |
30 Aug, 2015 |
Medium |
12km one-way 3 hrs |
|
Started this walk at 6.45am and it took me 5.30hrs return with a 30 minute break in Coominya. The walk takes you through a lot of farmland with heaps of gates to open and close but a magnificenet rail bridge close to Coominya. It is not accessible but below it are some large boulders to cross on. The trail is not a good one to complete over the Summer months or if there has been a lot of rain as the boulders would be under water. No public amenities along the track but available at each end. Parking available at each end of the trail.

Started the walk at 6.30am and finished at 7.50am, easy walk but lovely at that time of the morning. Walked this walk before I started work.

The first part of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, started at 7am, an easy walk with a few walkers along the way. It took me 1hr 30minutes to Lowood and then 1hr 50minutes return. Not much shade so not a Summer walk.
JC Slaughter Falls (Mt. Coot-tha) |
3 Aug, 2015 |
Easy |
1.2km return 30 mins |
|
This walk starts at Slaughter Falls and finishes at the Mt Cootha Lookout. The first time I did it I found it a little steep but easier each time I do it. I try to do this walk/climb once a month and early in the week mornings, weekends are too crowded. The walk now takes me 30 minutes up, a coffee at the top and 20 minutes down.
Bray to Greystones Coast Walk (Ireland) |
19 Jun, 2014 |
Easy |
7km one-way 2 hrs |

Coastal views are spectacular, plenty of birdlife and flora. I walked this walk from Bray to Greystones and caught the Dart Train return. Bray is easy access south of Dublin, parking at both ends of the track, no maps required. Popular with tourists. |
