We've been planning this return walk for a while and very happy to be able to tick it off. We started at 5.20am from the O'Reilly's end using torchlight. It was pitch black without it. The walk there wasn't too bad though there was a lot of mud on the O'Reilly's end around the rim section. Also lots of mist. We skipped the lookouts because there was nothing to see. We arrived at Binna Burra at 10.30am. After a hot drink and food from the Tea House we left Binna Burra at 11.10am for the walk back which was a lot harder. The muscles started to hurt and trying to avoid the mud really stretched them. We are quite sure that there was more up-hill on the way back as well, though from the rim back to O'Reilly's was mostly downhill. Such a relief. We arrived back at 5.10pm so over all 4 hours 10 minutes there, and 5 hours back - total 11 hours 10 minutes plus 40 minutes for lunch. Also it was quite cold. We thought we might have over-dressed, but we didn't.

We did this part as part of our return trip on the Boarder Track. Nearly turned back a couple of times because we weren't sure how far this side track was. We thought it might go round and to the top of a peak but it didn't. It really just went straight out to a lookout. Maybe 200m. Not sure. I should have checked everyone else's comments. We think it might have given a view of Mt Merino, but we're not sure as we couldn't see a thing due to the cloud. It did look like a steep drop though which was a bit un-nerving when everything was white.

We walked from the environmental centre to Nudgee Rd. The walk took 1 hour 40 minutes. The area is quite dry at the moment compared to what we've seen, but it's still very lush.

Fantastic walk. Yes it's hard but in my opinion doesn't compare with Mt Warning which seems to go forever. We did the walk In a counter clockwise direction so all of the uphill was over the shorter distance. The bottom of the falls is really rewarding but even the view from the top is fantastic. Totally loved it. Only saw one leach (on my camera) but the water would have been freezing.

Awesome Awesome Awesome! The only drawback was the huge number of people, but any wonder with such an easily accessible and beautiful waterfall. If you're down that way you have to see it.

We started this walk after 4 o'clock and found the track quite dark. We passed over the bridge at the bottom of the valley and started mapmaking our way up the other side. However due to the lack of light decided to make our way back. The track isn't very clear in places due to the leaf litter and we were concerned that we could easily get lost if we lost too much more light. Therefore we would t recommend this walk if there isn't much daylight left.

We started this walk from the Rummery Park Campground end in Whian Whian State Conservation Area, then went on to Minyon Falls Circuit before walking back. It's quite a pleasant easy walk. The track is a little rough in places but nothing too difficult. The creek is pretty.

We started this walk knowing it could rain and it did while we were at the bird hide. We waited until the heaviest rain seemed to be over and completed the walk. The track is really good now - raised granite with a couple of sections of board walk. There were puddles around the path from the rain, but the path was fine.

We walked from Baroon Dam to the base of the falls and returned. We didn't start till 1pm so we didn't stop too much and tried to walk fairly quickly. It still took us 5 hours though. No leaches today but we did see a green tree snake which slithered away very quickly when it saw us coming.

We've walked this track many times but this is the first time since it's been changed. I have to say I found the walk much more enjoyable. Sorry to all of you guys who like a bit of a climb but the new part has been really well done and is quite picturesque. Heaps of people up there today. The car park was packed.

The first thing we learnt is that you can't get to School Rd from the Centenary Hwy. you must go from tne Cunningham Hwy if travelling from Brisbane or Ipswich. The track is open though there were side tracks that were closed. We climbed the rock for a fantastic view of the area and returned via the ridge track. We found that track by going straight ahead instead of going backdown the stairs on the return journey. Following that track was more confusing. There is no signage and we had to make choices where the track divided. We somehow ended up on the Yaddunam track. I would recommend the ridge though even if you go up there and retrace your steps to return the way you came. All up we walked about 8 km.

We returned on this track after walking to White Rock via the Multi-user trail. The track was easy enough to follow but wasn't signed and we had to make decisions the track divided. We must have taken a wrong turn because we ended up on the Yaddunam track. Never the less I recommend the ridge. It was very green today and quite pretty.

We walked to Poets Rock from the Acacia Picnic Area off Acacia Rd. With a detour, we walked about 3 km. While Karawatha is really well signed, I would highly recommend taking a map so that you know where you are. There are lots of unmarked tracks that aren't maintained by the Brisbane City Council, and I believe that it is wise to keep off those to avoid getting lost. |
