Pioneers Graves (Main Range National Park)

Started and finished the Mt Mathieson Loop Trail here. The history about the settlers graves is interesting. The plaques on the monument are badly weathered and it is very hard to read what is on them.
Mt Peel Walking Tracks (Toowoomba)

We decided to do the loop walk and take in both of the lookouts. The views from the lookout make it well worth while climbing up to them. There is a lot of prickly pear, cactus and lantana throughout the reserve. Wear good ankle supporting shoes and take care on the rock climbs. These climbs would be very slippery in the rain. At the completion of the walk we had covered 4.8K, and enjoyed the walk.
Elanora Wetlands (Gold Coast)

The hardest part of this walk is finding a parking spot. Once found, it is a lovely casual walk along a short trail. Signage was reasonable and it did get a little smelly near the end, but not too bad.
Cougal Cascades (Springbrook National Park)

One of many short walks that we did today. Lovely rock pools and easy track to follow. The historic sawmill site could do with some TLC as it would be a shame to lose this heritage.
Schuster Park (Gold Coast)

Another short walk done today in the late evening and dusk. Great flat walk that we did at a reasonable pace. Lovely walk and even at dusk there was plenty of birds around.
Purling Brook Falls Circuit (Springbrook National Park)

I love this walk as it is close to the Gold Coast, very scenic and very enjoyable. I have done this walk a few time already and never get tired of it.
Sergeant Dan Stiller Memorial Reserve (South East Queensland)

Came back to do this walk in reverse and to do the bottom section that was closed the weekend before. We also walked up between the lakes and river. Very enjoyable walk. We started and ended our walk at Warrill Park.

Quite a relaxing walk. The eastern side of the lakes is in full sun with little shade so it gets hot. No track signage, which is disappointing. Luckily there were a few locals on the walk that could direct us, because without their input we would have definitely not found all of the track. Warrill Parkland is quite new and a good place to start and end the walk.
Poets Rock (Karawatha Forest)

We combined a few other tracks including the Poets Rock track and ended up walking 11.6 km in total. Lovely bush land walk with lots to see. There are a multitude of tracks in this park and we will be returning to do a few of them later this year.
White Rock Ridge Hike (White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate)

Just decided to do a local walk today to stretch the legs. Walked to the Bluff, and then Little White Rock and onto the ridge trail to White Rock. Very enjoyable and a little over 7.5K.

Another short stroll. Not much to see on this walk except for birds.
Kholo Gardens (Multiple Tracks) (Ipswich)

Lovely easy walks. Did all of the trails in about an hour and enjoyed them all. Well looked after park with a little bit of Ipswich's history in the old church now being used as a function center and the caretakers old house. Lovely views of the Brisbane River.
Wivenhoe Hill (South East Queensland)

Very enjoyable casual walk. We started off on the blue trail, then the white trail and then the red trail back to where we parked the car. This is the best way to do this walk (anti clockwise). Doing it clockwise means you have a solid steady climb on the start of the walk. The blue and white trails are scenic with lake views. The view from the top of the hill on the red trail is excellent. also this is the only place with a large seat so was a good place to stop and have lunch while enjoying the views. Lots of birds and butterflies.
Flinder’s Peak Circuit - approach from South (Ipswich - Flinders Goolman Conservation Estate)

Absolutely beautiful day for walking. Sun on our back and nice crisp breeze at most parts of the track. The car park was full and parking was a fair way away from the start of the walk. Lots and lots of people doing the walk, but still enjoyable. This is quite a challenging walk in that it never lets up with the climbing, and really gets your heart pounding.
Spring Mountain (Thornbill Drv trailhead) (White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate)

Tough challenging walk. The views from the top are superb and make it all worth while.
Goolman Lookout via Rocky Knoll (Ipswich - Flinders Goolman Conservation Estate)

Glorious day for walking. Did this walk by walking in on the Goolman Lookout trail and returning via the Rocky Knoll trail. Approximately 9.1Km. The bush is very dry.

First walk since the restrictions have been lifted. Many other people doing the same thins, as there were people everywhere. Still enjoyable to finally stretch the legs after 8 weeks of lock down.
Mt Mitchell (Main Range National Park)

Great to see the bush recovering, flowers out everywhere and swarms of butterflies. Very enjoyable casual walk.
Mt Cordeaux (Main Range National Park)

The only walk open in the Main Range national park after the fires. After having done this walk on many occasions, it was distressing to see the amount of damage done by the recent bush fires. The day was overcast with light rain patches. You could see the plants were starting to recover in some areas with spectacular color on the new growth and shoots. Still a pleasant walk to do.
Mt. Wellington - Zigzag/Icehouse loop (Wellington Park)
28 Jul, 2019
Medium

This was an interesting walk and a little challenging in places due to steps and more steps to climb up. We went up the Ice House track and then returned via the Zigzag track.
