One or family's favourite camping destinations. A gem of a place. Stunning at sunrise and sunset.

An easy circuit with stunning scenery. I don't think I've ever seen so many waterfalls and streams in one hike. Absolutely beautiful after recent rain.

A steady, steep climb to the summit. Beautiful views, but very busy being a weekend which detracted from the experience. I'd like to do it again on a week day when it's hopefully less crowded.

A lovely walk which has a few little streams to cross and a few hills to walk up/down. A nice mix of open grass land and rainforest. Keep eyes peeled as we saw a red belly black and there is no reception if you get into trouble.

A solid push up hill to the summit. We did this hike closer to midday. Something I wouldn't recommend in warmer months as there is little to no shade. Gorgeous views.

A constant slog up hill with very little scenery to enjoy during pauses. Summit views not particularly rewarding due to the amount of trees. But good for exercise.

A great hike with the family. No leeches or ticks as the region is still fairly dry. The palm forested section is particularly beautiful. The wreck is still largely recognisable with a laminated accident report sheet present. A bit tricky to navigate in parts. Found the GPS useful on our return.
White Rock Ridge Hike (White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate) |

A more interesting way to visit White Rock rather than taking the WRT. Lovely views and a bit more shade/breeze in warmer weather. Can be a little confusing to find the trail head from the Paperbark picnic area as it's the only track not mentioned on the Six Mile Creek Track sign. Veer left where the WRT veers right and you'll find the sign for WRRT a little further along the fire trail on your right. A straightforward walk with only one small rock scramble which is easier to navigate than actually getting to the top of White Rock itself. The view from the top of White Rock is nice. I really wish people wouldn't feel the need to carve their names into the rock face. Whatever happened to "Take only photos, leave only footprints". |

Bare Rock track and Morgan's Walk (Main Range National Park) |

We did these two trails as an extension to our Mt Cordeux walk. We walked to Bare rock first and stopped for lunch overlooking the Mistake Mountains. Just stunning even on a hazy day with several bush fires and dust storms in the valleys below. The highlight was listening to a Lyre bird mimic an incredible repertoire of bird calls and even the sound of leaves crunching underfoot of hikers. Morgan's Walk was less impressive but only a short detour to a lookout point and worth seeing if you're already enroute. Lastly we stopped at the Mt Cordeux lookout on our way back down. It provides beautiful views out to Moogerah dam and surrounding mountains. The family enjoyed pointing out various peaks in the distance we'd hiked previously. The majority of the walk is in rainforest. Making it ideal for a summer hike. Some nice downhill slopes on the way back to pick the pace up to a jog for a bit of fun with the kids. |

We did the hike with our 12 and 16 year old following the directions provided by Matthew Hae. These were invaluable! The two gorges are great fun and offer lots of opportunities for rock hopping and clambering. The view from the summit is not nearly as good as the view from the flat rock escarpment after Waterfall Gorge. Will definitely do again!

Great fun from start to finish. The landscape changes often and offers plenty of opportunities for rock clambering. Spectacular views start early on and continue throughout the hike. The family enjoyed it so much, we returned again later the same month with extended family in tow. |
