I did not think this was easy, but the falls are well worth the effort. So yes there is a steep climb at the start up to mount Allan tower. From there take the booloumba creek path. I did get confused here without a map. About 700m down the track there is a fork signed for Summer falls. Relatively easy track to the falls. Nice walk. Spend some time here if you can. Sit is the falls and have a bite to eat. Just beautiful. The trek back to the base of Mount Allan is easy then there's a 1.2km pretty steep climb back upto the tower. From the tower to Charlie Moreland is then 4.5km steep, in places, down hill. Tough on ya knees without pole. Loved the walk because of the falls. Left 8.30am returned pretty tired at 2.30pm

Done this hike a few times now but none better than after the recent constant down pour. Just stunning. A number of water crossings and checking for leeches is a must. Totally recommend walking just after or during a big rain.

Having walked from flaxton we camped at Thilba Thalba. From Gheerulla falls, via delicia road track, to the campsite is a hard slog of about 8km constant steep climb. Views from near the top are fantastic and a good point to catch your breath. From views to the camp is about 2km of easier climb. Good camp with great view. Toilet and tank water. Can get busy as groups drive up for the 200m walk to campsite. The circuit walk from Thilba back to Gheerulla is my favourite by a long way. Different vegetation to other parts of the walk with concrete river crossings as well as a couple that can easily get your feel wet. Whenever you get close to the river take your time and if you hear a waterfall go off the track to try and look for a swimming hole. There's the most beautiful little swimming holes with little falls to sit in and cool you down. Gutted I was going too fast this time and missed it. |

We started at flaxton barn one way to headind to Thilba Thalba walkers camp via Mapleton falls. Good, easy to follow path. I do like the idea of starting at Mapleton and a fine cup of tea and scones at the Barn.

As part of the great walk Mapleton to Ubjaee is a bit different to the other section. More open and tall gumtrees. Lovely change. From Ubajee to gheerulla fall 2km downhill. The falls are a must see and a swim. Sitting behind the falls is just great. From here to Thilba Thalba is tough 9km uphill hike. Great views as you get closer to the top and away from the track that follows the road.

Falls are great for a swim and sit behind the cascading water. This does state an easy walk. It is but you should be aware that it's a 1km steep climb back to the car. Just don't rush it.

These falls are absolutly stunning and with a bit of rock hopping you can find a gentle stream to wollow in or places to stick your head under a fast flowing fall. Stand on the edge and look down the gorge. Fantastic! It's a mistake to enter via the kuralpa falls road end if there has been rain or is likely to be rain. Having been to the falls before in dry, there is a track beside the river that takes you to the falls. Its a clamber down which in the dry is fine. From there you can rock hop and climb pretty easily to get across the falls and on to the main track. Way way too dangerous in the wet and with a big pack. I turned back, clambering up to the track and to the easiest water crossing about 400m back. Got my feet wet and onto the main track. Was fun but starting from Mapleton is the safest way. The track was really lovely in the wet and long enough to test some new rain gear. Wide vehicle track, we'll signed with maps along the way. Because the rain became heavy I didn't go to the Mapelton day use but just did the, roughly 7km circuit. Well good for a short work with a bit to get the heart pumping. |

Very surprised by how dry the track was given the amount of rain we had had on the coast. Leeches were expected. We only walked the 20kmish from the booloumba Day Use to the falls return. The falls were super busy but so beautiful. Have learnt return trips are so worth doing as the pictures look so different and you do miss stuff you shouldn't. On the return we bathed our sore feet at the top of the artists cascades while we cooked. Just stunning. Took about 6 hours with a couple of good stops at the falls. The walk is great to get your heart going on the incline towards booloumba falls with some resting flatish bits to. Deffinitely not easy but not overly hard for those with a bit of fitness.
