A trail to the summit of Mt Warning offers beautiful 360 degree views of the Great Dividing Range from the peak. Lots of steps, can be slippery. A steep climb to the summit using chains, but the views from the top are worth it!

Great walk done it about 5 times now, mostly for exercise :)

But please if this is your first time it is really about 8.5km and quite tiring and all stairs up and back some better than others, a reminder to you all please take enough water, every other time i summit, im always giving a spare water bottle to a backpacker or silly tourist who under estimates the difficulty.

Heaps of fun! Pretty hard at the top but worth it. Go on a clear day though, couldn't see anything at the top as it was raining.

1hr 45min ascent
1hr 15min descent

So so busy. Traffic jam at the chains. A classic walk. 1Hr 10 up

We set off around 11 - it was fairly busy with people coming down the mountain. Lots of kids and even a baby in a front-pack. Plenty of cloud and misty rain made it a slippery and cold adventure with no views at any point on the climb or the descent.

A great workout for the thighs and calves - around 720 m climb in 4 km.

Walked this track on a Thursday, I set off from the car park around 8.30am. The first 2 km of the rack I think are the hardest, after that you seem to get into a bit of a rhythm and it gets easier.

I drank a lot more water than I usually would, so make sure to bring enough; I suggest at least 3-4 litres per person. I brought 2 litres and ran out and it wasn’t a hot day. Also bring some food so you can top up your energy levels when you reach the summit.

Even if it isn’t a cold day make sure you BRING A JUMPER. Once you hit the chain part of the track you’ll be thanking yourself that you did.

The chain part at the top might seem overwhelming for some people that aren’t good with heights, but Its defiantly worth it once you reach the top.

This is one of the best walks I’ve been on I really enjoyed it. I would love to do the hike in the morning to see the sunrise. However I suggest doing the track at least once during daylight before doing it in the darkness of the morning.

Great Mother's Day, told mum to see the sunrise

Hiked up for the sunrise on my birthday. The walk was nice but the sunrise was covered by clouds!

Macduff89 on 18 Apr, 2015

breathtaking views on a sunny day.

That was excellent. Lovely day for a hike :)

More strenuous than I expected. The last chain section was pretty hectic as it had rained and was a little slippery.

Beautiful sunrise. Left for the summit at approx 2am and made it with a while to go before sunrise. It was very wet and cold but the views were amazing. Pretty strenuous walk but a must do.

First time. Great views. Well worth the walk.

Started around 10.00am with light rain. This was my first time with my niece and a friend. The walk up was well kept and steady for this type of gradient. The top section with chains was steep but the notches in the rocks well placed to get grip for climbing. The surrounding cloud separated a little so we could make out some features. A good walk overall and well worth the effort!

Loved it. Definitely will go again when the sky is clearer.

Up for sunrise again. Quite an unusual bushwalk in that a lot of people choose to walk this in the early hours of the morning to reach the summit for sunrise. Standing room only at the summit this morning. Who knew it would be this popular on the 10th January?

Second time I did this hike but first time for the sun rise and the ONLY time it wasn't cloudy for me, which gave me an absolutely stunning soleil rise! :) The hike up the almost 1000m hill is moderately strenuous but great for the heart. Path is very easy to follow and the last bit of scrambling at the top is probably the most fun part of the walk. Enough time in the day/night to take your time with this one.

I did this with a small group of friends who are much fitter than me. It meant that they set a good pace and were always ahead, stopping every so often for me to catch up. I tough but good workout.
I found the final section requiring scaling the wall holding onto the chain quite scary because I know my upper body strength is not the best -- but a younger version of me would have done it much more easily.
Remember to pack something warm because even in summer, the chilly wind at the top can be just that - quite chilly!!
