Route/Trail notes

- Follow Reservoir Trail for around 100m and veer right down Honeyeater track. Follow this track down the mountain towards Fleming Road ignoring Reservoir Trail & Rose Robin Track.

- Just before Fleming Rd veer left to the Environmental Centre. Then follow the Butterly Track and veer right onto Marmindie Street Track. This will bring you out onto Marmindie St.

- Turn left onto Nankoor St and follow until you reach the first left (Yanum Pl). At the end of this you will reach a small walking track.

- Turn right and follow this until you reach a 4X4 fire management trail (Chapel Hill Rd Track). This track is as steep as Kokoda Trail but more slippery.

Comments

Made it a full circuit with Reservoir trail, Scorpion trail and Litchfield trail. A bit longer though.

A great walk down to the environmental centre but gets your heart going getting back up! Especially after already hiking 9km!! We also joined the short Butterfly track on which was an extra 400m.

The track is well maintained and utilised by many. If you are interested in birdwatching I found the track to be a bit slim - there are honeyeaters but in the higher reaches ( Scarlet Honeyeaters, Yellow-faced Honeyeaters, Silvereye) - I spotted more birds on other tracks. This track is good for the incline and to include with other walks.

I think the summertrack is better than this. There's a period of time that you walk next to a driving road. But still a good exercise and you can see lots of trees and the wild

Good quality trail but had to take a couple of breathers on the last ascent

It was a pleasant walk down this track just after sunrise on a Sunday. We gave way to a number of very fit runners. After reaching the hut and butterfly track at the bottom we returned via Rose Robin track and Reservoir trail (different to what is listed in the track description). The Reservoir trail was very steep, needing to stop and catch our breath a few times. A great work out. 5.3 km and 48 flights climbed according to my iPhone.

The first part of the track was quite busy with people walking up and sow. The second part we were the only ones there. It is a really steep tough walk. Photos couldn't do it justice.

Great walk, fairly easy on the way down, the chapel track return is very steep and a good finish.

Great directions, took about 60 min at a steady pace.

Walked up this track from Chapel Hill to the Summit, wasn't too steep.

Overall the walk is easy and there were some butterflies. The most challenging part was the last 700m on the way back to the carpark at Sir Samuel Griffth Drive, it was quite steep.

Nice walk, certainly felt the calves burning on the way back up. Would be very slippery in the wet. As it was I slid a metre backwards whilst attempting to go up Chapel Hill Rd Track. With a couple of bridges to cross over dry gullies one would expect quite a torrent of water in the right conditions.
