Mt Warning Summit Trail

Wollumbin National Park

MOUNT WARNING SUMMIT TRAIL IS NOW PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

A trail to the summit of Mt Warning offers beautiful 360 degree views of the Great Dividing Range from the peak. Lots of steps, can be slippery. A steep climb to the summit using chains, but the views from the top are worth it!

Comments

A great walk, did the climb in 1hr30mins. The rock climb near the top was a good workout and the view was extremely rewarding at the top. The owner at the Mt Warning camp site warned us about leeches as it is rainforest and we ended up seeing 2 snakes instead, ha!

Cant remember the date but was earlier this year. Great walk and not too bad if you are fit. 1hr 16min up and 1hr 14min down. very important to watch where you place your feet. The chain part is the hardest part.

A great walk on a beautiful day. Fantastic views from the top. Busy, with lots of other buswalkers and families on the track. The chained section is not for the faint hearted.

Very challenging, but definitely worth it!

Best walk I have ever done. I am only new to the hype, and at the end thought never again. Two weeks later can't wait to get to the peak again. Great views and sense of accomplishment. I will try the walk again this month, time permitting.

Car park is very crowded.

Did this today with a group of about 30 youth and about 8 adults, light showers today, and very windy and cold on the summit, thoroughly enjoyed the walk today doing it with people who are new to walking/scrambling. Today was all about stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new.

Lovely day for it. Lots of families on the track. Good to see all the children, but very busy.

3rd time up did it for the sunrise this time was surprised at how many people actually showed up. Topped off by a Spanish guy playing his didgeridoo.

We started this climb at 11pm and reached the summit around 2am...the sunrise was amazing! It has a well defined track.

great view at the top. Not an overlong walk, some scrambling required. It think it only took us ~40mins to get to the top.

hazwing on 19 May, 2011

Please ignore my other comment about it only taking 40 mins. Posted about the wrong trail.

Mt warning summit took us about 5-6hours return. Nice place to watch the sunrise

hazwing on 19 May, 2011

Great walk but not easy because it's sometimes very steep. With kids aged 8-12 it took us 5.5 hours but it was well worth it. The last climb using the chains is exciting and the views were stunning. Overall just a beatiful challenge!

Agile Chris on 1 May, 2011

3am start to get to top for sunrise last part by chains not too hard just need to careful clouded in but waited about an hour for clearing weather top views

One of my all time favourites. I first did this when my kids were 10, 5 and 2. I carried my 2 year old all the way up on my shoulders. At least until the chain where I had her under one arm with the chain in the other hand.
Since then I have done it 4 times in the early morning on New Years Day to welcome the sun rise on a New Year. At night you will see glow worms on the track.

An enjoyable and rewarding walk. Cloud completely hindered the outlook at the top but was nice all the same. Reasonable standard of fitness required.
