A Long walk up a well maintained track. The last 50 odd metres requires climbing up and over some rock. At this same point, there is a chain to help you in required, but this part is certainly not dangerous. Excellent views at the top on a clear day. If you have reasonable fitness, allow at least 3 hours return.

It was my first Mt climb in over 10 yrs. I did it with my partner who helped me along the way and I surprisingly found it not as difficult as I was imagining.
We were there to view the sunrise, yet, it was raining and overcaste so we didn't see much- yet was a wonderful experience we shared together :)
Cannot wait to climb it again!!!

Got up early to see the last sunrise for the year-Challenging but well worth the effort

Great Walk, challenging & rewarding - fantastic views over tweed valley and the coast.

Enjoyed this walk until reaching the summit, where we found a half a dozen back packers camping, and it actually smelt like a toilet with rubbish everywhere, looking past that we enjoyed the veiws on this clear day.

Great walk with great company.

Great walk, classic!

Start the hike around 3am (depending on the season) to reach the summit for sunrise. This is popularly attempted during a full moon but I've found that it makes no difference as the moonlight cannot penetrate to the forest floor anyway. The first 200m is daunting as there are many steps, but this becomes more comfortable switch backs. Take lots of water and be prepared for a 400m scramble using chains to the top. Well worth the effort as the views are all the way to the sea.

What an amazing walk. We started the hike at 3am with two other adults and my 3 year old nephew. Half the hike up was in the dark which was fun. We had about 5 rests on the way up as we didnt want to stress little harlem (nephew) out. The rock scramble proved difficult with a toddler but we made it to the summit where one other stood, we had lunch up there and gradually others reached the summit and were totally amazing when they saw a little three year old up there already looking fine eating his sammies lol
On our way down there was way more traffic so we let people pass as harlem was starting to feel the effects of such a long hike. In the end we made it back totally void of energy and headed to the Gold coast to enjoy the surf.

Great walk today, 95min drive from Brisbane. Perfect weather with plenty of groups celebrating Father's day with the hike. 4 hour round trip with time for photos and snacks at the top.
Chain section makes it nice and safe to make the top, still a good workout though!

Great walk. 4 hrs return with stops and pictures etc. Chain is tough work but worth it.

A great walk, but can be crowded. We like to do as training walk, have done probably nearly 10 times now. Last time we drove up the road was closed, but it has been awhile (perhaps May 2013?)

Always a good walk. I have lost count of the number of times we have climbed this mountain. It always seems to be busier each time we go back.

The walk that got me back into bush walking again!!

Why on earth I picked this not sure other than I wanted to watch the sun rise.

Up at 1am!!. At the mountina by 3am (and a bit worried about having enough fuel to get back to a servo - left Brisbane a bit light on). On the trail and up we go. My only mistake was not checking the torch batteries as they died an hour in and I was left wondering what to do. Thankfully the mobile phone glow was enough to avoid tripping over the steps.

I had more than few envious glances of the themos of coffee I carried to the top and mighty glad of it I was too. That and stripping off the soaking wet tshirt and vest.

Sunrise was great except for having to share with too many other people (and a few idiots).

I will remember this walk well as I suffered for about three days afterwards with sore muscles. I could barely walk on the Wednesday and ANY downward slope was painful (and I had to laugh at myself otherwise I would have screamed)

Glad I did it as it lead to so many other walks I have been doing.

Great walk, cloudy day so didn't get to see a view from the top but the environment during the trip up was beautiful.

Good walk today. Perfect weather, great view.

WorldWalker on Apr, 2012

Had a good walk up today, alot of traffic on the mountain today, seems to be quiet a few people in training, shared some lollies with strangers at the top...

Walkinghawk on 25 Mar, 2012

Cloudy today, but still a good walk. A bit of rain makes it slippery and a little more interesting.

WorldWalker on Mar, 2012

It was really hard and me and my mum saw lots of bush turkeys which were following us. There was a whole heap of people on the walk. Even I did it, and that was when i was eight.

GiantChicken on 2012

Pity it was so cloudy as there was no view from the top....and glad it was much easier on the way down :)
