Mount Ngungun (pronounced 'noo noo')but generally known as "Gun Gun" is a very popular hike due to its relative ease and fantastic views. Traditional owners have asked that this mountain not be climbed.

A well defined graded track with some steep sections. The track begins in open forest with a fern understory. Part way up the mountain, there is a great view of Mt Tibrogargan as the track passes a small rock overhang. The summit provides spectacular close-up views of nearby Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Tibberoowuccum, Mt Coonowrin and Mt Beerwah.

Route/Trail notes:

A graded path starts from the sign post and information board. Follow the path, which switch backs up the hill till you reach a steep, loose, rocky gully, requiring big steps or light scramble/rock hop up. When you reach the top, it's a good place to have a rest, picnic and the view.

Return by retracing your steps.

Pleasant climb, families with small kids can do it too. Great views to the north and south.

This was our first hike so a much more experienced friend pointed us towards Ngungun. It's a trail walk. A tiny bit of a scramble at the end but the main path is very very easy and those with even moderate fitness will smash it.

We hiked up the trail with our 9 month old on my back. At times it was a little scary as this was my first time carrying a baby on my back up a trail like this one with the rocky path and some close edges.
At the end though, I realised the walk was a piece of cake. It gets easier as you get to the top! And totally worth every minute.

Beautiful track. Very easy to follow and not very difficult at all.

Great to go see the sunrise before exploring other mountains around it!

Took us under two hours as it was a very busy day with lots of people of all ages climbing the mountain. Some loose debris. The summit was worth it at the top, very beautiful - giving you a sense of accomplishment.

Great short walk. Not to difficult but good exercise. 1 hour total including 10min break at the top.

Always a pleasure Mt Ngugun

Breakfast and a sunrise at the top of this little but sweet hill ;)

Note - I don't climb mountains regularly but wouldn't consider my fitness to be too bad.
I found this to be a good walk up. Only near the top do you have to do a bit of rock scrambling. It was easy. The view from the top is stunning! Is the busiest mountain I've climbed so far. Only took our group of 3 about 30 minutes to get to the top and 20 minutes down.

Lovely short afternoon climb, only an hour north of Brisbane.

Nice pleasant walk without anything too challenging. Bit exposed towards the true summit, which got rather the better of my acrophobia, but the view from the summit ridge is spectacular regardless.

A 2 hour round trip with my fitness group girls.
A great walk up which got us sweating and spectacular views up the very top of which we stayed for about 30 mins taking it all in.
Definitely do this one again.

20mins up. 15 down. Lovely view, low level skill so great to break in those less experienced. My mother has done this one with me and loved it.

I didn't realise I had done this hike years ago until I was halfway up.
Easy as climb, great little training ground for anyone to use. A busy track as frequented by trail runners and I would recommend this for any family adventure to get the kids outdoors.

Its short and sweet and a safe hike for all ages.

I've done this walk at least twice. Easy with great views. Combine this with other tracks in the area for a longer hiking trip, like Mt Beerburrum lookout or Tibro.

Great views from the top. I did it in 35 mins with 2 kids in tow.

I did this walk with a friend who had never done this climb before and was doing it for a challenge before she turned 50! It was a beautiful day and there were lots of butterflies at the summit. My friend's fear of heights kept her away from the edge at the summit.

This is my first logged bush walk. Completed the walk in 35 mins (to the top) and it was a challenge for me. Carrying a pack with 7KG of gear IE camera and other essential equipment. I have lived here for over 20 years and never seen the area like this. I am looking forwarded to many more enjoyable journeys
