Mount Ngungun (pronounced 'noo noo')but generally known as "Gun Gun" is a very popular hike due to its relative ease and fantastic views. Traditional owners have asked that this mountain not be climbed.

A well defined graded track with some steep sections. The track begins in open forest with a fern understory. Part way up the mountain, there is a great view of Mt Tibrogargan as the track passes a small rock overhang. The summit provides spectacular close-up views of nearby Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Tibberoowuccum, Mt Coonowrin and Mt Beerwah.

Route/Trail notes:

A graded path starts from the sign post and information board. Follow the path, which switch backs up the hill till you reach a steep, loose, rocky gully, requiring big steps or light scramble/rock hop up. When you reach the top, it's a good place to have a rest, picnic and the view.

Return by retracing your steps.

Easy walk with a great view at the end.

I have done this walk a few times over the past decade with family and friends. It's a steady steep climb and the track has changed over the years making it easier. It's a good cardio workout. It is also a popular walk so it can get busy. The views over the hinterland and to other mountains are great. Disappointing to see people have etched their names etc into the rocks on the summit.

Nice scramble near the top but not too difficult. Good views.

Great walk if you don't know what walk you wanna walk :)

Did this walk after a failed attempt at Tibro just prior.

This is a nice easy walk with some great views at the top. Would do it again if nearby.

my first every bush walk and climb in this area of Queensland. I loved it but it was taxing as I was so unfit, I have since become much fitter and plan to revisit this one again to get the maximum benefit out of it.

I enjoyed it very much with myself, daughter and son in law, however I feel I could in hindsight over a year later get much more out of doing it again, fitness levels were low at this time but it still very enjoyable and I had a sense of achievement despite the struggle for those of us who were unfit, happy to say I'm building up fitness now :)

One of my favourites. I pop up here a few times a week and especially love getting up before the sun rises.

Nice steady short hike, great views of the other Glasshouse Mountains from the top.

Great walk with the kids. Loved the cave and the views were great.

A lovely easy walk for all ages. Lots of rock steps and the 360° view at the top of Mt Tiborgagain, Mt Coonowrin and Mt Beerwah is fantastic.

Great walk, great views but be prepared for clouds of little flies as you find on all the summits of the glasshouse mountains!

Didn't involve any actual climbing, though there are cliffs and anything else to try on the way up. You also pass by a huge lava cave.

Good walk nice cave about a 1/3 of the way up. Views and look out were really nice.
Not a hard walk and the trails are well made. Next time a jog up might be better

Love this walk. It's a great one to take visitors to the Sunshine Coast to. It's quite an easy walk and the 360 degree views at the top are spectacular. Probably the best hill views on the coast.
