Really enjoyed this longer variation taking in the four trails. The YYT at the end was much harder than doing it from the trailhead, fresh. You could do this walk in reverse to make it easier too.

Went up with two people who'd been before, highly recommend not going up without someone experienced or being really experienced (including navigation) yourself. Our day took 10 and a half hours because of the different fitness levels in our group. The scrambles were super fun, a little challenging but if you're a confident scrambler (or do bouldering) should be no problems. It was pretty wet when we did it, but the rock was good and it wasn't actively raining when we were on the hard bits. It was really windy, definitely take layers and a rain jacket and more water than you think you need (I ran out because I drank about 3 times as much as I usually do) but thankfully our experienced guides had surplus water). The descent is really hard on the knees, I was very thankful for lugging my poles all that way to use them on the last bit of the hike. Also it's not 13km... add on an extra 3km from the Yellowpinch trailhead. Definitely the hardest hike I've done, not for the inexperienced or unprepared but so very rewarding. Absolutely epic. |

This is definitely an underrated walk. It's super easy, for sure, but at 16.5km it's a good one to get some distance in the legs especially if you're training for a big hike. It was raining when I walked it and honestly I think that improved the experience, it was quite beautiful. From the day use area head toward the camping area and back to the road (but inside the fence) to find the sign, you are following the shared trail the whole way and it's really easy to follow.

Fantastic walk with my three kids (age ranges 8-15). The teenager usually hates hikes but even he enjoyed it. Caves, waterfalls, rainforest - what more can you ask for in a 4km easy hike?!

What a stunning walk! Waterfalls everywhere. It was drizzling for our entire hike which meant lots of mud and slippery rocks. My hiking partner fell on one of the creek crossings (was fine thankfully!) so be very cautious. We started at Tallanbana - recommend taking some loo paper just in case you if are driving a long distance to get there. Amazingly didn't get a single leech.

This track is great! The scrambling was easy, and there were no long steep gruelling sections (thumbs up!) Don't bother with hiking poles, they are just a hassle to carry. Beautiful scenery. It was max 22 but still got hot, so go early if you can. Came back via Trachyte/Soldier-Settler's. Will be back and take in the full Trachtye and Tibro circuits. This is definitely in my top 3 fave SEQ hikes so far.

Adding to the chorus... it's very easy to go the wrong way if you are following the wrong map on Wikiloc! We went the right way, then backtracked to the wrong way because of the Wikiloc map my friend chose. Ended up at the base of the ridge, and had to go back up. Stay on the fire trail until you see the Pinnacle tree. It's also very easy to miss, I happened to be looking around at that point and saw it, it's quite a steep section so easy to miss. We got to the pinnacle with an hour until sunset, and then it started to rain so didn't attempt the scramble. Will need to come back and finish it. We met some people who were coming back and they reiterated you can't see much from the second pinnacle because it's all overgrown.

Picked this one thinking it would be quieter than other more popular tracks for the first day of easing restrictions. Lucky we got there early as by the time we left people were parking all over the road. The hike is a little longer if you walk to the summit (and who wouldn't?). The lack of signage at the water tank is pretty bad, go left at that fork! Then go left again, happy that the bush camp sign is there. Wouldn't mind camping there once we're allowed to again! Although not really looking forward to the hike back uphill!

I can see what people mean by gruelling. Ugh. We started at 5:15pm and summited at about 6:20. Beautiful breeze at the top but be prepared for the second kilometre to kick your butt. My fitness is admittedly a bit low as I'm coming off a leg injury, possibly not the best return-to-hiking hike. The view across the dam wall at the end was gorgeous after sunset though. We had a bit of a moment worrying we'd be shut in as the sign says "public access to dam wall 5:30am - 6:30pm" but we exited around 7 and the gate was open. Probably a better winter hike than summer hike!

This is probably the most fun I've had on a hike to date. It's a pretty strenuous uphill hike for the most part, but the rock hopping across the ridge was a highlight, as was the short climb (it's not hard or exposed, just fun!) Exhausting but worth it and the views are great!

Download the GPS route! I'm not sure how we would have managed if we didn't have it (although was funny when we skipped over some detours in the route). Very very hard to find the start of the track, I don't think many people have been up there in a while so it was very overgrown in a lot of parts. I found this steep hike harder than Beerwah! Much prefer solid rock and scrambling, the loose rock and dirt was tricky. We bouldered around a few bits and that was great. Coming down was very hard on the knees and quads, ouch! The walk back down the road was heaps easier, you'll motor along there.

I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting myself into with this one. I knew there'd be scrambling and I have indoor rock climbing experience and am relatively fit and very flexible. I was wearing Merrell trail shoes and wouldn't want to do it in joggers. The start was really intense (it was climbing, not scrambling) but honestly there were quite a few bits all the way up that were tricky. Once you get to the cliffs it really is easier, but you're already fatigued ;). I disagree that it's harder coming down, it was much easier coming down, just don't make the mistake of uncontrolled sliding--use your arms and feet to control your descent. It's also really exposed and it was hot, I drank all of my water which I never do on hikes. It was a humbling experience and I'm still a bit amazed I did it.
