Mt Eerwah (Sunshine Coast)

Nice challenging walk. The ropes were really appreciated though you could definitely climb it without them. Some parts are really loose and slippery so care is needed. It wasn't as bad coming back down as we thought it might be. The Apple Watch tracked the walk at 4km return but we walked it in 2 hours 40 minutes including a 25 minute break at the top.

This is the second time we've done this walk and it is great. Lots of different lookouts and different terrain. There were quite a few trees fallen over the path this time and parts of the track were a bit overgrown but nothing that was really a problem. We took the side tracks to Lower Ballanjui Falls and Charraboomba Rock as well as the eastern lookouts track. We highly recommend the rock but it was all great. The walk took us 5 hours and thirty five minutes including a 15 minute break for lunch at Charraboomba Rock and a few other short breaks at other lookouts.

The road no longer goes to dirt so don't wait for that. We followed the track to the left and then till the track made a sharp left turn and headed towards the mountain. It wasn't too hard though we did climb up rocks to get straight up to the peak. We followed the ridge to the lower peak and then went down from there. Good views from the top. Definitely worth the climb.

We did this walk in the dark after completing the other longer walk. It was a full moon so it was easy enough. Note though that walk is actually 2 km.

We parked opposite the sign and followed the rough track behind it towards the mountain. When we came to the quarry, we went to the right around it rather than taking the scar to the left, and made our way straight up the mountain. It was quite steep. We looked for the pink and orange ribbons around the trees, but didn't find any until we were about half way up. Then we followed those. It really is quite nice up there once you make it. We followed the ribbons all the way back down. They lead to the top of the scar, which we followed back to the initial track in. This was a really fun walk, though you need to watch out for loose stones, and not take it too fast.

We had a lot of trouble finding the track, and it would have been much easier if we had read everyone else's comments first. We started looking for a track off to the left of the Trachyte Circuit, but couldn't find one. We ended up walking the entire Trachyte Circuit before having another look. While doing this we found another couple looking for it too. We followed them up the 4WD track that others have talked about, and obviously didn't go far enough. The other couple were checking online and found a blog that suggested that the way up was via a track directly off Barrs Rd, about 100m up from the carpark, so we decided to try that. There is a driveway there. We were unsure if it was a private driveway at first because there is a number on it - 212. As we couldn't find any other entrances, we took this track and followed it to the right when the road divided. We went around a bend to the right, then up a hill. On the sides of the track there are three small piles of rocks - two on the left and one on the right. Between the two on the left is the start of the track that we took up. It was quite steep - strenuous going up, and slippery going down. Care is needed, particularly near the top before the track levels out as there is a lot of loose shale. We didn't see where the other tracks were, but ended up at the top. The views are great. This track is probably a little over 1km each way.

We walked this track while trying to find the track up to Mt Tibberoowuccum. As we couldn't find this track, we ended up completing the whole circuit before having another look. It's a relatively easy track, and the lookout 1.9km is quite good.

That was a really strenuous walk. The chains really helped. Rewarding up the top though.

We walked this track late afternoon. We didn't really know what we were looking for when we reached the Hakea Track but if you realise that it's not a fire trail and it's not marked you should be fine. The bush track was a bit wet.

We started at the environmental centre. It was a hot day so some parts of the walk were quite warm some trees have been removed between the track and the highway in some places making it even warmer as there was less shelter from the afternoon sun. We only walked as far as Nudgee Rd and back which is a total of 8.4km.

Enjoyed this walk. There are some really nice buttresses along the way as well as lovely picabean forest. The side track to the lookout over the falls is still closed though.

Great walk but so ready for a rest when we got back. Had a little trouble following the track in some places but not a problem really. We tried to keep our feet dry but ended up getting them wet. In the end got tired of taking off our shoes when we couldn't rock hop across and just crossed over through the water with shoes on. All in all a really great walk to be recommended but be prepared to get your feet wet and take plenty of water. It took us 7 hours in a clockwise direction including the side track to the pool.

Lots and lots of flies, and it was hot. We watched a beautiful sunset though.

This was a fantastic walk. We began at Banksia Point Picnic Area and walked in a clockwise direction. On the way down we took a side track to Esgles Nest Lookout which took us past Weeping Rock. This part of the track was quite strenuous and slippery. The Eagles Nest Track is currently closed from this end at the lookout. We then proceeded down into the tea tree gully. This part of the track was really beautiful passing the base of cliffs. When we made it to the Robinsons Knob Trail we took two more side tracks - Wrights Lookout and the Cascades Walk before going back to the track which lead to the top of the cliffs. At the top the vegetation was really different. Someone told us it was an alpine swamp. We saw ja flock of yellow tailed black cockatoos up there. Fantastic walk.

While this is a relatively easy, flat walk, some parts of the track are a bit loose and rocky. It's quite easy to follow and the view over the river is great. This view can also be accessed via a short track from just inside the park boundary.

We spoke to several people while we were there who had done this walk, and everyone agreed it was an absolute killer. The first 5km is fine, but the 2.2 back up the hill were shocking. The water hole was really nice, but most wondered if it was worth the walk.
