Devil's Hole Lookout (Barrington Tops National Park)
5 Jan, 2017
Very Easy
100m return
10 mins
This really is a spectacular view. While we were there we noticed a brown snake basking on a rock below the lookout. It was great to see, but I guess that's a warning even on this short well constructed track that this is the bush and snakes are everywhere. Earlier in the day we spotted a red bellied black snake on the road as well. Take care.
Careys Peak via the Corker Track (Barrington Tops National Park)
3 Jan, 2017
Hard
20km return
5 hrs
This walk wasn't as hard as we were expecting, maybe because we had read about it and were expecting it to be really hard. I don't want to underestimate it, because it is long and hard, though we're not sure it's actually 10km from bottom to top as the NPWS signs say. The Apple Watch tracked it at 8.15km which was a really nice surprise. We continued on to Carey's Peak, but there was no view due to cloud cover. In fact we walked much of the way in the clouds which was very pleasant. If you're in the area and have a reasonable fitness level we would very much recommend this walk.
Blue Gum Loop Track (Barrington Tops National Park)
2 Jan, 2017
Easy
3.5km return

This is a nice easy walk. We particularly enjoyed the view over the River. We completed it along with the Rocky Crossing Track, which was much nicer.
Rocky Crossing Track (Barrington Tops National Park)
2 Jan, 2017
Easy
16km return

We loved this track. Though long, it was quite easy, with a slight ascent from the beginning to the Rocky Crossing side track. We took the track up to the car park. It really is very steep. The Rocky crossing is really beautiful. Actually the whole track is quite nice too.
Burraga Swamp Track (Barrington Tops National Park)
1 Jan, 2017
Easy
1km one-way
30 mins
This was a very beautiful walk amongst the ferns. Actually the walk is more spectacular than the end swamp. We saw many stinging nettles, and there are a lot at the end of the path near the swamp. There were also a lot of leeches there.
Allyn River Rainforest Trail (New South Wales)
1 Jan, 2017
Easy
2km return
1 hr
This was a nice easy walk, and the spot at the river was very pleasant. It would be a great place for a swim on a hot day.
Jerusalem Creek Track (Barrington Tops National Park)
31 Dec, 2016
Hard
2km one-way
1 hr
We began at the car park down the road and took the track to the top. It is quite steep in parts and strenuous. We spotted a lyrebird in one of the gullies. The waterfall was pretty much dry. The trip back down was a bit slippery as the surface on the track is rather loose.
Antarctic Beech Track (Barrington Tops National Park)
30 Dec, 2016
Hard
2.5km return
90 mins
This was the last of the three tracks that we walked as part of a circuit, and was definitely our favourite. There is a very steep descent down to the fern gully which was our favourite part of this walk. We were grateful not to be walking back up that hill. We saw where the track divided but the left hand Track was quite blocked by a fallen tree so we took the longer track.
Gloucester Falls Walk (Barrington Tops National Park)
30 Dec, 2016
Medium
1.5km return
1 hr
We walked this track as the second part of a circuit of all three tracks in this area and joined it on the right hand side of the track upstream from the waterfall. The view over the waterfall is ok, but not outstanding. The incline after that was quite steep that took us to the other lookout which was quite good. After going in to the day use area for a toilet stop we backtracked down the track we'd just come down to take a link track on the left which took us to the Antarctic Beech track.
River Track (Barrington Tops National Park)
30 Dec, 2016
Easy
2.5km one-way
1 hr
We began a circuit of all three tracks in this area on this track. You really don't see much of the River, but the swamp sections are quite pretty.
Sharpes Creek Track (Barrington Tops National Park)
29 Dec, 2016
Very Hard
4.5km return
2 hrs
We walked to the top of the hill but chose to walk back along the track rather than down the road making a 4 km walk. The ascent is really steep and exhausting. We did do it when temperatures in the surrounding areas were set to reach 42 degrees, so probably not the best day for it. Parts of the ascent are quite open, adding to the stress.
Gloucester River Track (Barrington Tops National Park)
29 Dec, 2016
Easy
2.5km return
1 hr
We chose to walk this track in the opposite direction, beginning at the camp ground, and finding the track at the back of the overflow camp ground. It's not marked from this end, but a little way in there is a sign directing people coming in the other direction where to go. It appears that it's taking you in the wrong direction at first, but the track swings around at the sign, giving you confidence that you're on the right track. While this track follows the Gloucester River, you don't see much of it apart from where you cross it once, in our case, near the start of the track. You may need to paddle, though we managed to get across on the rocks.
Brush Turkey Track (New South Wales)
28 Dec, 2016
Easy
1km return
30 mins
A good option if you don't feel like you want too strenuous of a walk. This one's fairly easy though the track is a bit rough.
Cliff Face Track (New South Wales)
28 Dec, 2016
Very Hard
4km return
2 hrs
This walk was hard work. We only noticed one small area where we could see the cliff face. However there are some nice views further along.
Carole Green Walkway (South East Queensland)
25 Nov, 2016
Very Easy
1.6km return

We found lots of mosquitos. Don't forget the rid just in case.
Baldwin Swamp (Wide Bay Burnett)
20 Oct, 2016
Easy

This is the first time I have been to see a colony of flying foxes and it didn't really smell. No idea why. It's a really large colony. There was a lot of bird life around including a little egret, purple swamp hens, black ducks and Australian wood ducks. We walked 3.3km and it took an hour.
Byron Creek Circuit (D'Aguilar National Park)

15.25km return

We had trouble with this walk. I have a feeling that we didn't start at the right place, though it mostly looked right. We parked when we came to a Y in the road on Chambers Road with a gate on the right hand side road. We followed for 100m where we came to a horse trail on the right. The path descended very steeply. The surface was a bit loose so we had to take care. We crossed two creeks, with a track to the left between the two tracks - not exactly what we were expecting, but close. However, after following the track, we came to Peggs road. That seemed ok too, but there weren't too many options. The route says not to turn left, but go straight ahead. Straight ahead wasn't an option so we turned right. It lead us back to Range Road which we followed back to our car. It wasn't a bad walk, but i don't think it was the correct path. Total distance was 5.5km and it took us 1.5 hours. I would advise not to drive up there without a 4WD. The dirt road was quite uneven in places and we were happy not to be in a conventional vehicle.
Mt Ninderry (Sunshine Coast)
17 Sep, 2016
Medium
3.3km return
90 mins
We enjoyed the walk though I wouldn't class it as easy. Probably easy for a mountain though. The directions to the mountain were a bit confusing. To get there we came off the highway at the Yandina exit. At the roundabout we turned left towards Yandina, then straight through the next roundabout and followed the road round the bend. When we came to a T intersection we turned right into Ninderry Rd. We followed the 4wd track to a small clearing. From there there were two walking tracks. The one to the left as between two big rocks. We took that one on the way up. That is the new track and was quite easy really. Steps have been formed along the way to make it easier. We came down the other track. It was obviously the old track and very rocky. There are quite a few tracks at the top and a few ni e lookouts.
Rocky Creek Circuit (Parklands Conservation Park)
17 Sep, 2016
Medium
5.4km return

Not a bad walk along a 4wd track. We were a little confused in the beginning by the map on the sign which was for bike tracks. We then found the walking tracks sign on the back which made it much clearer. There are good signs all along the way. We would recommend taking the track in a clockwise direction as we did. It's really quite hilly but there is one particularly long steep section which we were happy not to be climbing up.
Cilento Park (Sunshine Coast)

We have to agree with the previous comments. What a lovely place in the middle of suburbia.
