Getting there

At the lower end of the bottom carpark of the Maiala picnic ground. The Maiala Picnic Ground is on Mt Glorious Rd near the intersection with Browns Rd and is well signposted. The Picnic Ground has modern and clean toilets at the top of the picnic area (but are not well stocked !!).

Route/Trail notes

With a boardwalk this track is achievable for most fitness levels, however walkers with knee/ankle problems should be aware that there are several sets of stairs (some wooden staircases with handrails, some natural rock steps.)

Super easy walk. Was quite dry despite the rain, no mud or bogginess so no need for hiking shoes. I just went with my runners. The falls were also pretty dry but still pretty great. Try and scramble down if you can! Lots of pademelons and cool fungi :)

Easy walk with the toddler. Spotted a Wallabie

Lovely dense forest trail to the falls, a wonderful rain hike if you can deal with endless leeches when it's wet.

Hot Summers day in Brisbane, but it was nice and cool up in the rainforest! Cute resident chickens wandering the picnic area too.

all in all pretty easy walk. only took about 40 minutes each way but we deviated on the way back and did the rainforest circuit. saw lots of pademelons and heard an owl. not much water as no rain but was a nice walk. 2 adults and a 13 year old

Fantastic walk. Well worth it. Did it with my 5yo son in 2.5hrs.

Brilliant walk, was really wet when we did it and had leaches galore all over our legs and shoes.
Was an easy walk got the heart going on the incline on the way back, at least we got to see the falls flowing.

Amazing and easy walk through the forest! Pretty much all shaded. Spotted few bird, paddy mellon and a tiny bush rat.

Walked it lots of times. great escape from summer heat, as temperature there is 5-7 degrees cooler.

Very busy walk on a Sunday. Was not expecting to see much wildlife due to the noise from other walkers but was amazed to encounter a python sunning herself on a log.

Easy walk really, with a bit of uphill walking on the way back. We diverted back via Rainforest Circuit for a few extra things to see. Was quite lovely.

A nice little well maintained track that leads to the top of a small waterfall. Spotted some wildlife on the way such as a Pademelon and a small mouselike marsupial. Perfect walk for my pregnant wife and two year old daughter.

Car park overflowing with cars as Public Holiday. Recent rain left the track very boggy and was slippery in some places but was still enjoyed by all in the group. 5yr old son did walk easily. Falls flowing at end of walk.

Arrival: 10am on Sunday (Public Holiday), Carpark around 50% full. Weather: Cloudy morning but local rain past 3 days.
Track: Begins on the 'Rainforest Circuit Track'. From the Car park, maybe 100m from the car park, keep left at the first fork (clockwise direction). After 700m cross the service road to start the 'Greenes Falls Return'. A mix of natural bush track, boardwalk, stone/timber steps. Due to the recent rainfall there were some areas where the track was quite muddy. Hiking Poles were quite useful in these areas. Plenty of Tall Tree Specimens and Funghi to entice young ones and city-bound wanderers. Upon completion of the Greene Falls Return, the 1.2km leg of the Rain Forest Circuit is a steeper, but worth the effort. Relatively accessible to younger ones (>7yo).
Photography: Aperture Priority worked well under canopy. ISO 1000 & F1.8 worked well on the day.
Equipment: On a dry day, runners should be fine. Unfortunately, being damp/muddy - Hiking Boots/Shoes were clearly outperforming runners (or the numerous thongs seen on the track!!). This was a moderately used track, but many wanderers appeared to be carrying nothing more than car keys and wallet.

Lovely walk - we saw a pademelon with her joey! Lots of (easy) steps on the way back up, but well worth it.

Beautiful walk, nice and cool on a hot Summers day.

Sipan on 7 Jan, 2018

We have done this walk many times with our baby daughter in the carrier. It's a lovely place to escape the heat of Brisbane (always a few degrees cooler up there!) during summer.

Nice little walk

Easy walk
Except a small bushbash to get to the deeper pools

Such a good walk. We've been here in the past when it's been quite muddy but nice and dry today. Never the less some water was still going over the Falls, not that you see too much of them. We started the walk quite late at about 4.30pm and we're back in an hour.

good family walk.
