Mount Ngungun (pronounced 'noo noo')but generally known as "Gun Gun" is a very popular hike due to its relative ease and fantastic views. Traditional owners have asked that this mountain not be climbed.

A well defined graded track with some steep sections. The track begins in open forest with a fern understory. Part way up the mountain, there is a great view of Mt Tibrogargan as the track passes a small rock overhang. The summit provides spectacular close-up views of nearby Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Tibberoowuccum, Mt Coonowrin and Mt Beerwah.

Route/Trail notes:

A graded path starts from the sign post and information board. Follow the path, which switch backs up the hill till you reach a steep, loose, rocky gully, requiring big steps or light scramble/rock hop up. When you reach the top, it's a good place to have a rest, picnic and the view.

Return by retracing your steps.

Great family walk, amazing views, but very busy.

Made the mistake of walking this one absolutely hungover in trackies, gym shoes and a gym shirt. Do not make my mistake haha! However the walk up was a nice challenge and super family friendly with a cool cave view on the way up. The view from the top is quite breath taking and well worth the climb. May sure to bring heaps of water with you as I did not and I struggled a lot a couple days after being super exhausted. But a good walk to do on a day off.

Always a great walk. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are here. It's Friday and we still had trouble getting a park. Today there were even two buses here. Still had a great time though.

nice easy walk. Took about 25mins but we were going reasonably quick. Suitable for kids aged 5+ Great place to see the sun come up.

Great little walk that is very suitable for kids and beginners. Can be challenging if you are after beating your PB from your last climb 🏃 Always amazing views that never disappoint 🙏💕

Usually, we do not 'comment' when we revisit a climb, but today was a little different, as it was the third and last of the day's challenge. We had already redone Wild Horse Mountain and burned our leg muscles on Beerburrum, so this was a great way to finish.

Appropriately graded. Amazing views from the top. Pretty challenging but within capabilities as relatively inexperienced bushwalkers. Completed in approx 1hr 10mins including time for resting at the top.

This is a great walk for all ages and most fitness levels. There are a few natural/rock steps along the way plus a fantastic view from the top. Would recommend this one if you’ve never been to any GHM before. I always seem to get eaten my mozzies so a quick spray before hand is a good idea. Easy to drive to and park.

We are doing this again next weekend...it's lovely...just a note on pronunciation for those who may be driving and asking for directions: I am not disagreeing with the official pronunciation Ngungun at all but all the Sunshine Coasters that I have talked to about the place pronounced it gun gun" ...we are probably all incorrect but it could be that if you asked for directions to Mount Noo Noo you may not be immediately understood

A very busy walk. I have bad knees and the track required constant attention so I didn't trip over. Overall, people were courteous in moving aside to let people pass.

ma premiere en Australie et vraiment pas mal :D la monter et rapide le terrain un peu accentue,... mais la vue est incroyable je la recommande vivement :D

I love the Glass House Mountains. This is the 2nd one I've climbed so far, the views are incredible! Tibrogargan is a much better, more adventurous climb but this Ngungun is way more accessible. Depends on your fitness and abilities I guess.
