Warrie Circuit

Springbrook National Park

Beautiful walk through the valley. Pass and go through lots of waterfalls and rainforest.

Stop at Apple Tree Park for toilet stop on way. Circuit is another 5-10min drive from there.

Public toilets are also located at Tallanbana Picnic Area approximately 300m on the right before Canyon Lookout where Warrie Circuit begins - toilets are set back off the road and can't be seen from the road, but, they're there just behind the picnic tables.

Cuts across the Ngarri-dhum Falls a few times in one half, and the Little Nerang Creek in the other half. The half way point is the Meeting of the Waters where (as the name suggests) the two creeks meet.

Route/Trail notes

From the Canyon lookout turn right and follow the path. The path is extremely well signed and marked. There are a few turnoffs for the 4km Twin Falls circuit, but stay right. It's virtually impossible to get lost. The first few kilometres head downhill past a few beautiful waterfalls. After while you lose altitude into the rainforest. A few switch backs downhill and you end up at the half way point, where all the creeks meet. Beautiful place to stop for lunch.

The walk back up hill isn't steep with lots of switch backs. At one stage near the top you get near another waterfall. There's a sign pointing to the Twin Falls circuit, but turn right and walk behind the waterfall. Best part of the trek! Follow the climb back up and walk along the ridge back to the car, checking out views all the way to Surfers Paradise.

4 hours easy walk. Bit rainy but was good to keep things cool, under the canopy wasn't affected.

Great walk, one of the best I've done. Start early as when I emerged from the rainforest I found the ridge line and carparks swarming with tourists. The views make up for it though. First walk where leeches got into my canvas boots, they were pink by 11am. Highly recommend making the detour and watching the sun rise from The Best of All lookout beforehand.

This walk packs in so many waterfalls and creeks, it's definitely worth doing. The way down to the Meeting of the Waters was so nice and easy - the way uphill, not so much. Even though it's gently sloped for the most part, you do feel it after 8 or 9kms. We went after a relatively dry period, so all the creek crossings required was some easy rock hopping, no water contact needed. The waterfalls were still spectacular, particularly Rainbow Falls, which is awesome to walk beneath. We found quite a few leeches along the way (definitely bring your favourite leech-defeating tool, I prefer matches) and snakes, too. The track is pretty well signed, but it's worth paying attention and following your progress on the map - there are a heap of map signs around the place though, so don't be too worried.

4 h, beautiful walking behind and through waterfalls

Elinekl on 13 Jul, 2015

This was a fantastic walk, visiting about a dozen of Springbrook's waterfalls. I walked it with a group of five, starting at 10:30am. I really enjoyed walking along the base of the cliffs near the start, and visit to Rainbow falls. We stopped for lunch just after 12pm at a creek near the Meeting of the Waters.
We made good time, completing the walk in just over four hours.

Walked this track on Saturday it took about 4 and a half hours to complete, I’m relatively fit, walk at an average pace, and stopped for about 20 minutes for lunch at 'where the two rivers meet'. Saw 3 small Marsh snakes along the way about 50cm each, I read that these are mildly venomous and bite from them cause symptoms such as pain and swelling, but aren’t deadly. They are a dark brow/back colour, and their head looks kind of yellow/green.

My favourite part of the track was the Rainbow waterfall, you can walk behind it, would be very nice on a hot day.

My advice to anyone planning on doing this 17km walk is to go on to the Springbrook National Park website and print out a map of the circuit and take it with you. This way you can see where about on the track you are and what is coming up next. There are also a couple of areas where you have the option the go 2 ways; this is where the map particularly comes in handy.

Make sure you take enough food, and water. I suggest at least 3 litres of water per person. The camel back bags are great for a long track like this, as it can get annoying having to stop and take out your drink bottle every time you want a drink. I’ve seen them at Kmart for $29. Take some fruit, maybe nuts or nut bars or muesli bars etc, and maybe some salad rolls.

I highly recommend this track. I did Mt Warning the previous weekend and although the lookout at Mt Warning is AMAZING, I enjoyed walking this track more.

Did this circuit yesterday, was beautiful! A nice easy walk.. took us just over 3 hours (we didn't rush but are pretty fit so kept a constant pace). Would highly recommend. We saw a rock wallaby which was real cute, and also came across two huge red belly black snakes, they were just out getting some sun but always a good idea to keep an eye out. Canon lookout was the best lookout, we drove around to a few others and was a waste of our time.

Nice walk zigzagging down and back up the side of the mountain, although Twin Falls captures the best of it - walking under the waterfalls was easily the highlight! Plenty of trees down on the track, but all easily avoided, and the creek crossings are fine now the rain's settled down.

It has been pouring the past few days but we still decided to go. Best decision! Waterfalls pumping at their maximum. Spectacular! Took us 6.5 hrs with average fitness. Rock scrambling and hopping through at least 5 knee deep sometimes dangerous creek crossings. Saw 3 spiny blue crayfish and a golden python. Only had one leech bite.

Gorgeous walk, no leeches here :) . It is fairly gentle incline-wise, with a few creek crossings, but we did these easily with baby on my back in the carrier.

EmilyN on 21 Sep, 2014

Yep there was leeches, lots of leeches. Also some very nice sceanery the brachicitons when in flower provid an amazing contrast in coloures. Take at least 6hrs to really enjoy this walk.

This walk is EPIC! So many amazing waterfalls and views. The track itself is an easy walk with the uphill inclines mild at worst. If you are thinking about doing this walk you will not be disapointed, its amazing. Make sure you take the small (<100m) detour to see the Poonyahra falls, this waterfall is the pick of the bunch.

Fantasic walk today. Took around 4 hours (10am-2pm) with a couple of brief stops. No leeches! waterfalls were spectacular... in particular lunch at "the meeting of the waters" was well worth the wait. Cadbury's milk chocolate tastes *soooo* good down there :-)
Took 3 layers of clothing as pretty cold start and finish. Only saw 2 other walkers. Very different once we re-joined the twin falls circuit!

Mike on 24 Jun, 2012

Fantastic walk today. Weather, the park and the falls were all at their best.

Paul Monaghan on 17 Jun, 2012

Excellent walk. The rain made it a little more interesting and very leechy. Some spectacular waterfalls and caves. Added on the twin falls and was very glad I did. The tracks leading behind the waterfalls are great and refreshing. Took around four and a half hours at a decent pace.

WorldWalker on 2 Jun, 2012

This walk has everything a great track to do in the rain, the waterfalls were in full flow and like worldwalker said " spectacular" to be able to walking behind some of them definetly sells the walk to me and we did pay our debt to the many leeches which attached themselves to us for the day, the rock formations are another great feature of this walk..I really enjoyed this walk and wished we would of added the pinnacle to it..... Next time maybe

Walkinghawk on 2 Jun, 2012

Saw the comment that the circuit was closed because of fallen trees etc. Yesterday did the walk and everything was cleared. The track is good to walk but because of heavy rainfall the creek crossings might cause some wet feet. I don't believe the track is easy because of these crossings. Qld gov rate the track as a Class 4 track.

The Traveller on 5 May, 2012

Not trying to set a record here, but I walked this circuit for some track training and completed it in 3hrs 10min. Admittedly I barely stopped (1x5min for food and a couple times to remove the 100s of leeches that started climbing my gaitors).

Officially the track was closed, but advice from a walker who had just completed it was that fallen trees had blocked what was otherwise a well defined path in 3 locations. These trees were pretty easy to cross but i guess in the interest of safety for people from all types of experience it was waranted.

Those wanting to walk to the pinacle, the start of this track is pretty easy to find, look approx halfway on the map where the tracks turns 270deg on itself.

This was my second time and I went solo. It drizzled all day and was a very muddy experience. Made friends with at least 100 leaches but still really enjoyed it. The lovely girs at the cafe gave me a tub of salt and off they went.
