Mt Ninderry

Sunshine Coast

A pleasant walk following a stepped track to a large plateau with two viewing platforms. One covers the west, overlooking Yandina and the Blackall Range, the other is to the east overlooking Mt Coolum.

Getting there:

Turn off the Bruce Highway at Yandina and head west onto the Yandina Coolum Road, away from the mountain. Carry on straight through the roundabout(s) onto Coulson Road and then right along School Road at the railway line. At the end of the road turn right onto Ninderry Road, back over the Highway and up the hill. Follow this till Eucalyptus Circle and look for a cement drive up to the car park on the right.

None found.

Route/Trail notes:

From the car park follow the track to the right up the northern ridge and over the saddle till it reaches a steep rocky stepped section, with two small viewing areas on your left. Just after the second lookout, you take the right fork to the western lookout, then continue across the top of the mountain to the eastern lookout, before heading back down to rejoin the original track.

Alternatively bush bash and rock hop around the top for further views.

Permits/Costs:

None.

Other References/Comments:

It is a shame, that despite the money Sunshine Council have put in here (2017), they have failed to provide a safe viewing area to look south across the Sunshine Coast and the Glass house Mountains, which would be awesome.

This is a lovely canopied walk. It is a gentle climb and the views are just lovely. One for the whole family

Great lookouts in all 4 directions, and the middle up the top (where people have made rock mounds) has a special vibe if you let yourself absorb it for a while.
Nice seeing locals walking their dogs up there too

Nice easy climb. Good one to take kids up

Short and sweet walk. View from eastern lookout is insanely good for the little invested time getting there. I would do this again for sunrise photography or if I'm passing by Coolum. Even pre gym cardio :)

Lovely walk up, many small areas at the top to see the view from. Was followed up by a dog that we later learned lives nearby and often does the walk with strangers - he was so friendly!

Did this walk at 6.30am today. Great walk, great views, only saw two other people on the walk. Not too steep compared to others in the area, but still gets the heart pumping! As good as Coolum but without the people.

Be aware......currently they are upgrading the road to the car park & the end of the road is fenced off & says no access. We just parked on the street & walked round the fence, no problem. Work is apparently scheduled to end sometime in July.

Really nice walk, busier than we expected but still not to hectic. Views from either lookout were great

Easy walk with just enough incline to get the heart pumping. This is my go to walk and do this at least 1-2 times a week as its easily accessible, nice clear trail to follow, good little heart warmer and great views ! Its a great spot to watch the sunset.

Nice walk today. A bit easier than Mt Coolum and not as busy. A little over an hour to complete today. Tracks are good and well maintained. Walking under canopy 99% of the way. Tracks a little bit loose under foot but nothing to be worried about.

I wear hiking boots for comfort but not necessary. Poles not required but could be handy as a training track if you wanted to get the hang of using them.

Climbed as second climb on Monday 11 May 2020 with Suzy. Saw Dave & Tammy there as well. A nice climb with plenty of stairs. Stopped near top to look East towards Coolum, then at top at Eastern lookout to look south/south east over Valdora towards Maroochydore & the Maroochy River. Followed the circuit at the top around to the Western lookout to look out towards Montville & Malpleton. Beautiful weather & views. Would recommend.

Great views on sunset.

Did the walk this morning for the first time. Took about 25 minutes to reach the top. Checked out both east and west lookouts. Well worth the hike up. No crowds unlike Mt.Coolum.
