Rock Pool (Carnarvon National Park)
13 May, 2021
Easy
900m return
30 mins
I guess this is a great spot to cool off in the summer, but in May, is was not an option, although there were a couple sitting in the middle of the creek with beers in hand!
Nature Trail (Carnarvon National Park)
13 May, 2021
Easy
1.6km return
45 mins
After a day up Mickey, Warrumbah and the Rock Pools, this was a pleasant and tranquil walk down and around the Carnarvon Creek.
Moss Garden (Carnarvon National Park)
12 May, 2021
Medium
7.5km return
3 hrs
This was a long but enjoyable walk into the Moss Garden. With not a lot of water running, have I seen better: yes.
Amphitheatre (Carnarvon National Park)
12 May, 2021
Medium
8.4km return

Now, this one was fun, climbing the ladders to the small entrance and then working your way through to the chamber. The warning is that: 'don't get caught in here in a bad storm, as the only way out is the same for you and the water!'
On the day I was down there, a thunder storm came through and a Ranger and his party spent an hour sheltering under the overhang till the storm abated.
Art Gallery (Carnarvon National Park)
12 May, 2021
Medium
11.5km return
4 hrs
This was great if you had never seen 'Rock Art', but I found the inscriptions very repetitive and have seen better in the Northern Territories. Interesting that there is a lot of graffiti 'modern rock art' all around the 1950's.
Wards Canyon (Carnarvon National Park)
12 May, 2021
Medium
9.8km return
4 hrs
This was by far the best of the top four: Moss Garden, Amphitheatre, Art Gallery and Wards Canyon. Absolutely fascinating with a waterfall, King Ferns and some modern history attached.
On the day I was down there, a thunder storm came through and a number of my fellow campers spent an hour sheltering under the overhang whilst the thunder and lightning rocked the gorge. Fantastic experience.
Came back to camp to find everything under water, but within an hour it had all soaked away.
Takarakka Lookout (Carnarvon National Park)
11 May, 2021
Easy
1km return
30 mins
So you are staying in a camp site on the edge of Carnarvon Gorge; you have to have a look around and see what is on offer and this little walk up to the lookout was just one. I continued down and along the creek where people were watching the rock pool for platypus and other catching butterflies!
Adungadoo Pathway (Darling Downs South West)
10 May, 2021
Easy
4.2km return
90 mins
Roma Bush Gardens (Darling Downs South West)
10 May, 2021
Easy
1.3km return
30 mins
Whenever I am on a road trip, I look for the 'brown' road signage that can lead to some interesting places and this was one of them. Tucked in around the back of Roma, it provides a short walk around the old Railway Dam, where the local community has spend time developing and replanting native trees, but needs more information on exactly what has been replanted, as much of the off path area is through grassed areas.
Mt Peel Walking Tracks (Toowoomba)
9 May, 2021
Medium
3.4km return
90 mins
Without a Navman, I would never have found this place and a friendly Staffie dog greeted me at the car park and wants to come with you for a walk. This was certainly a new perspective of Toowoomba from the west.
Fantail Walk (Toowoomba)
9 May, 2021
Medium
1.7m return
45 mins
Had a bit of spare time in Toowoomba, so headed out to Picnic Point and on a late Sunday afternoon ticked off this walk down the hill, with its great views of the human ants scrambling up Mt Table Top.
Eric Joseph Foote Sanctuary (Sunshine Coast)

Mary Cairncross Reserve (Sunshine Coast)

Prospect Hill (Kangaroo Island)
21 Mar, 2021
Medium
600m return
45 mins
Last climb after a brilliant three weeks stay in South Australia. We saw this walk as we travelled to Kingscote the day we arrived and set aside time for the climb as we headed back to the ferry.
Flagstaff Hill (Kangaroo Island)
21 Mar, 2021
Easy
700m return
30 mins
Last day on Kangaroo Island, so before we catch the ferry in the late afternoon, we have a look around Kingscote coastline and come across this short walk up from what was the first official settler's settlement in South Australian in 1836.
Cape du Couedic Hike (Flinders Chase National Park)
20 Mar, 2021
Easy
2.2km return
1 hr
As you drive from Kingscote to the far west of Kangaroo Island, the fire damage of 2019/20 becomes more and more apparent. 50% of the Island's habitat was destroyed; 96% of Flinders Chase National Park. It is hard to imagine what it once looked like.
Luckily, the draw cards of Bunker Hill, Cape du Couedic, Admirals Arch, Weirs Cove and the Remarkable Rocks are still accessible.
Best part of this walk was spending an endless amount of time watching the seals and pups playing in the sea and rock pools.
Remarkable Rocks (Flinders Chase National Park)
20 Mar, 2021

Yes, well, 'remarkable' is an apt description. What more can you say!
Discovery Walk (Cleland Conservation Park)

Robe Coastal Trail (South Australia)
13 Mar, 2021
Easy

Get the cobwebs out of your hair with a breezy morning walk along the coastline and around the harbour after a whole lot of lobster and fine wine last night. Was here in 2009, booked in for one night and stayed three. Love this place.
Mount Schank (South Australia)
11 Mar, 2021
Medium
2.9km return

What a great trek. Get to the rim and walk around and then down a unmaintained overgrown fern trail to the centre avoiding the snakes and overhanging branches. In the centre there is no sound, not even a whisper: surreal calm. Lay one more stone on the cairn and head back to the top.
