Wheel of Fire walk (Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday)

Medium

This is a really beautiful walk with well maintained paths. Unfortunately we didn't make it all the way this time. There has been quite a bit of rain and Calistamon Crossing looked a bit risky. However the Crossing itself is worth the walk. I guess we'll just have to come back again.
Pine Grove Circuit (Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday)

This was a nice easy walk. We were happy to see a wedge tail eagle when we reached the end of the path in amongst the flying foxes.
Pine Grove -Cedar Grove Track (Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday)

Medium
2.8km one-way

We did much of this walk in the rain. However much of the rain didn't reach us, so it wasn't really a problem. However parts of the track were quite muddy and we had to take care not to slip.
Sky Window Circuit (Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday)

We walked this track after coming from the Pine Grove Carpark. It had been raining and so the lookout was clouded in. However, this Lookout is so accessible and if we get a chance we might drive up again just for a look.
Clark Range Track (Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday)
24 Mar, 2017
Medium
8.2km one-way
90 mins
We walked this track while there was some rain around. Through the first part of the walk we experienced lots of leeches. When we reached the sign to go to either the road or the Sky Window, we chose the Sky Window, but got confused when it took us to the road, so we decided to walk back along the road. The car park isn't too much further. Walking back via the road was much shorter.
Western Window Track (D'Aguilar National Park)

I'm sure we've walked this track many years ago but remember it being very over-grown. It certainly isn't now. There were a few minor obstacles on the track but that's all. We saw a couple of pademelons along the way. The view isn't bad.
Westside Track (D'Aguilar National Park)

We only ended up completing part of this walk due to getting confused at the start. We decided to begin the track off Joyners Ridge Rd. We climbed over the gate where there appear to be two forestry roads. The signs to the walking tracks led up the one to the right. We wrongly concluded that this track was the path. It was actually Joyner's Ridge Rd. it was a nice pleasant walk and I would recommends it - particularly the first kilometre through picabeen forest. We only realised our mistake after 3.5km. What we missed was a narrower walking track to the right of the road near the start with a sign with an arrow on it. So after we had walked down the road we took the correct track as far as the steps up to the western window. We'll have to go back again to complete the track completely. We had no problem at all with leeches. Didn't see one even though it had been raining during the weeks previous.

It's amazing to find bush like this in the middle of Chermside. It's a nice easy walk through native bush.

Nice pleasant walk beside the Pine River. It is a good place to do bird watching. There is a bird hide on a side track.
Buderim Forest Park (Sunshine Coast)

We went there to photograph the falls. It's amazing how many people are there even on a Wednesday. It must be so crowded on the weekend. It is a great spot though.
Moreton Bay Cycle Way (Woody Point to Scarborough section) (South East Queensland)

This stretch of beach is a regular walk for us. We have walked the complete path in the past, making it a circuit by starting at Scarborough Beach, continuing the the Ted Smout Bridge and then walking across the peninsular to Newport Waterways before walking back to Scarborough. Today however we started at Sutton's Beach, walked across the Ted Smout Bridge and then along the beach at Brighton and Sandgate until we reached the Shorncliffe Pier. Then we walked back again. It was about 31km in total. It was a hot day made more bearable by the breeze coming off the water. It's a good walk because there are plenty of cafes along the way to pick up a drink and some food. There are also water bubblers - luxuries we don't always have in the aussie bush.
Mahogany Trail (Mt. Coot-tha)
21 Jan, 2017
Medium
2.6km one-way

It was way too hot for doing this walk today. We were so grateful for the cafe at the Summit to pick up an ice block and cold drink. We took the Summit Trail on the way back.
Mt. Coot-tha Summit Track (Mt. Coot-tha)
21 Jan, 2017
Medium
5.3km return

I found it hard to believe that there might be water bubblers along this track, but there they were. Fantastic! The bottom section is quite a bit like a walk through a park. Very nice I might add. However, further along it is more like a bush walk with a good path. It was a hot day, and so maybe not as many people as on other weekends, but we did still see a few.
Aboriginal Artwork Track/ Hoop Pine Trail (Mt. Coot-tha)

Not a bad walk, though there really wasn't much artwork to see. There are a few interpretive signs, but they are quite small and easy to miss. The creek wasn't running, but still pretty enough.

We came here to do an easy walk and escape some of the heat. It was a little cooler than where we had come from and not too busy. I think everyone was doing the walks with creeks or falls. We only saw one other family. The picaneen forest is really nice.
Helmholtzia Loop (Border Ranges National Park)

This was a really picturesque walk. We would have loved to continue following the Brindle Creek Walk, but ran out of time.

This is a nice walk, though we enjoyed the Helmholtsia Walk more.

We set off for this walk in the car from the Forest Tops Camping Area with a nice clear sky, did tow short walks along the way and had breakfast. Before we knew it, the clouds were rolling in, and we finished the drive in the cloud, needless to say, we didn't get much of a view. However, from the sign on the lookout it seems that this would be a fantastic view on a clear day. Hopefully we'll come by this way again some time.
Border Loop Walk (Border Ranges National Park)

We were so busy looking at the strangler fig we didn't raven realise that the track had divided until it brough us back again to the same place. There are a lot of name plates on the trees and even some vines.
Booyong Walk (Border Ranges National Park)

We walked from Forest Tops and then back again. You don't notice how far you're going down until you'r climbing back up. The part along the unused roadway is quite overgrown. Walking early in the morning our shoes got wet through, though it was dry when we returned. In a lot of places the path is quite uneven with lots of roots along the path.
