I have done this walk many times over the years. It is well worth doing at night for the glow worms. One time I did this with my three (much younger) kids and was at the lookout above the falls when a red bellied black snake decided to come down the path and join us on the lookout. As there is not much space here I grabbed my toddler and got my two other kids to follow me back up the track. The snake continued for the lookout, totally ignoring us, passing us a matter of centimetres away.

Did this walk solo. Got to the private property signs and veered uphill to base of cliffline. I then scrub bashed my way around northern side and found a goat track on south west side of mountain. Track is very slippery and steep in places. Managed to complete entire circuit but did slide for about 10 metres at one point down a particularly slippery section.

One of my all time favourites. I first did this when my kids were 10, 5 and 2. I carried my 2 year old all the way up on my shoulders. At least until the chain where I had her under one arm with the chain in the other hand. Since then I have done it 4 times in the early morning on New Years Day to welcome the sun rise on a New Year. At night you will see glow worms on the track. |

I did this walk with my 10 year old son and got back to the start by 1pm. Beautiful walk, lots of lovely waterfalls. When we did it we couldn't stop too often as it was absolutely crawling with leeches and they would climb on us quicker than we could get them off. Also, due to the leeches we didn't feel like stripping down and swimming in any of the waterholes. Luckily it was winter and not very hot.

Challenging walk, can really test your navigational skills. Rainforest has claimed back the track making it extremely slow going. Ensure compass, topographical map, plenty of water and good quality torches as may require walking out in the dark.

Good fun. I did this walk in the dark to make the sunrise. Saw a lot more on the way down in daylight than I did on the way up in the dark. Hopefully QPWS will reopen this walk at some point in the not too distant future. |
