Mount Ngungun (pronounced 'noo noo')but generally known as "Gun Gun" is a very popular hike due to its relative ease and fantastic views. Traditional owners have asked that this mountain not be climbed.

A well defined graded track with some steep sections. The track begins in open forest with a fern understory. Part way up the mountain, there is a great view of Mt Tibrogargan as the track passes a small rock overhang. The summit provides spectacular close-up views of nearby Mt Tibrogargan, Mt Tibberoowuccum, Mt Coonowrin and Mt Beerwah.

A graded path starts from the sign post and information board. Follow the path, which switch backs up the hill till you reach a steep, loose, rocky gully, requiring big steps or light scramble/rock hop up. When you reach the top, it's a good place to have a rest, picnic and the view.

Return by retracing your steps.

This is one of our favourite short walks.

Great short walk/scramble, enjoyed the small cave in the gully, great day on top the weather was just perfect. It was quiet busy on the summit with a big group of abseilers and people out enjoying the sun, explored the heath to the west out to the cliff edge then walked north around through the Heath to the small cliff line of the highest point and ascended the track to the right of this to reach the peak, layed on the sun for about 45 minutes them headed back down.

Good fun walk with my 12 year old daughter. The majority of the walk is a walk/climb up a quite steep incline.
Took us about 1 hour return which included about 10 minutes on the summit.

Rainy. Very rainy. Could see very little from the top. However, managed to fly a kite.

Easy walk and a great "introduction" to mountain walking for beginners.

Awesome! We took our three young children and they loved the 'rock climbing' through the gullies. Well worth it once at the top!

Yep, great view

Very simple, even with someone who doesn't normally hike we finished it in under an hour with a very long break

We had good fun scrambling up the gullies. Good views from the top. It was quite busy with the parking area on both sides of the road almost full, due to one large group.

A good steep climb up rock and dirt with a few tree roots to help you. Just when you think you've reached the top, take a look to the left of you, there's the summit!! great views. My brother in law and I did this climb then I took my Wife the following day and met a couple of similar age who are into climbing too and now are very good friends.

Great little walk with fantastic views to Noosa in the north, Brisbane in the south, Moreton Island in the east and the range in the west.
